One of its kind Ara create a feeling of an eternal holiday – bright, colorful, playful birds will not leave anyone indifferent from those who are lucky enough with them to communicate. These parrots gave us America – the southern and Central part, but we can hardly say that Ara miss my home. Many lovers of exotic birds in our country and in neighboring countries to create excellent living conditions in their apartments and country houses.

These beauties are valued very expensive and, moreover, listed in the Red Book, so rarely appear for sale. The macaws are the most expensive of all in captivity. Their cost reaches $ 20,000. These birds reach 95 cm in length, and still boast the strongest beak on earth. Their feathers can be painted in all shades of green, red, blue and yellow.

If it is correct to contain Ara and take care of it, the bird quickly becomes accustomed to the owner and easy learning conversation and training.   With rough handling, parrots become very aggressive, thus presenting a great danger to others - with their powerful beak they destroy everything around and shout loudly (as well as cockatoo).

Ara have a very sharp voice, and their cry for most people is an ordeal.   But the macaw that is content with its life is a quiet and calm bird. Therefore, when choosing a house for keeping at home, you must necessarily familiarize yourself with the nature and habits of the bird, so that in the future there will be no trouble.

Most large parrots, among them Ara, has a wonderful memory, so they remember and easily recognize the person who ever scared them or caused any harm. Therefore, when handling such birds should be particularly careful, otherwise you will lose the confidence of the birds to you forever. Also, as with all large species of parrots for content Ara requires all-metal cage.

For one parrot, it is best to choose a tetrahedral cage with a flat opening top or dome. In the middle there should be one or two perches, toys, a feeder, a drinking bowl. The cage must be spacious, so that the parrot can freely spread its wings.

Also these parrots can be kept in cages   with such dimensions: 2.5 to 2.5 m at the base and 2.5 m high. For most species of ar in such an enclosure a house-nest is built in which they can rest. On its bottom it is desirable to pour a layer of sawdust or peat with a height of 10-15 cm. It is best to make a nest of thick planks and encase it with a metal net from the outside.

At home, the feeding of this species of parrots is not that challenging. It differs little from the diet of cockatoos and other large parrots. Basis – grains. Ara eat all types of feed grains, but most of all I love corn, sunflower, peas. With less desire they eat oats, millet, wheat, barley, perhaps because these seeds are small in size, and such a huge beak, like Ara, hulling them can be infinitely long.

It is also desirable to add variety to the diet of Ara. Definitely need to offer your bird fruits and vegetables in their raw form, various nuts. Both small and large, which they easily gnaw. Apricot seeds serve as a special delicacy for the macaw, they can replace nuts in the diet of birds. According to the vitamin and mineral complex, they are not inferior to peanuts.

From food of animal origin occasionally it is necessary to give low-fat cottage cheese, hard-boiled egg or a piece of boiled lean meat   (better heart, liver). But it is not necessary to abuse these foods, since they can cause a metabolic disturbance in the body of the bird.
